I was asked to contribute my choices to a page which recommends books on different topics. Mine was the history and culture of Russia, a subject that inspired at least three of my novels.
It was a hard choice. There are far too many wonderful books to choose from, so in the end I followed my own fascinations: Catherine the Great and her court, the fall of Catherine’s Russia, Russian Ballet, literature, music.
